When fall hits, the brakes are pumped hard on all things bright, colorful, and airy from summer. Fall to me is all about bringing back bold elements into my style. Here are some of my “must have” fall pieces that are in heavy rotation this time of year. I’m not necessarily advocating for wearing all of these items at once, but you must certainly could and still look great!
Classic Flannel: Urban Outfitters Acid Wash Flannel Shirt
The first few times you wear something like this, you feel a little lumberjack-like, but I assure you it’s timeless, cozy, and super versatile. Once you’re comfortable in flannel, switch up the pace by incorporating baubly statement necklaces, blazers, or leather baseball caps.
Pleather Accents: Charlotte Russe Liquid Pleather Skater Skirt
Chances are, if it has a faux leather trim, I buy it! I live for skater dresses and skirts and a good pleather skirt can go with so many different outfits, both for day and night. Try tucking in a button up blouse, tank top, or tube top that you can repurpose from seasons earlier this year.
Utility Jacket: Velvet by Graham & Spencer x Lily Aldridge Ruby Army Jacket
A utility jacket looks great in any color, but I especially love army or olive green for the season. They’re casual, approachable, and comfortable. No need for the heavy winter coat yet, right?
Holographic Nails: Essie “For The Twill Of It”
If there’s any time of year to wear beetle-inspired nails, it’s fall. Because sometimes we’re all bundled up and can’t express much fashion sense under a heavy coat, hat, and scarf, nail color is a great accessory to take advantage of. Check out the holographic collections out this fall, because I promise you’ll be mesmerized by at least one.
Biker Boots: Jellypop Gautier Ankle Boot
If you’re not comfortable going full on biker chic, try an edgy ankle boot on for size. These boots are adorned with heavy silver hardware yet are easy to pair with skinny jeans and leggings. They even have a slight heel that is manageable to walk in.
Warm Blush: NYX Blush in Mocha
While Tarte’s Exposed and I have a long running love affair, I have recently been reaching for this blush which is slightly more dramatic and seasonally appropriate. Mocha is a deep, warm color which can be worn alone or with bronzer to give your cheeks a warm and dramatic contour, accentuating other features on your face like your cheekbones and brows. The blush is super pigemented, too, so try to apply softly or alternatively go a little lighter on the eye and lip makeup.

Loving pleather/leather skirts for the fall! Just picked one up over the weekend and so excited to wear it 🙂

I have to admit that I’m not entirely sure about how I feel about the return of pleather, but am definitely liking some of the other fall trends for sure!
