Anchored on Onyx

san francisco blogger

Top: J.Crew | Skirt: h.i.p. (similar) | Booties: Steven by Steve Madden (via DSW) | Necklace: Molly Rose Post Jewelry | Clutch:  Louis Vuitton | Sunglasses: Stella McCartney | Watch: Michael Kors | Fitness Band: FitBit Flex | Earrings: Nordstrom Rack | Lipstick: Dior Lip Glow | Nails: CHANEL Nail Color in ‘Dragon’

This is truly the skirt that goes with everything. You might recognize this waffled skirt from an OOTD a few weeks back, and it’s honestly in heavy rotation right about now. I love it because I can toss it on after work with literally any top I wear to the office. The best part? I don’t have to worry about the texture clashing with my other accessories.

And speaking of accessories, how great are these new booties? I picked them up at DSW when I was on the hunt for a pair of non-black and non-suede ankle boots, which was surprisingly difficult. But my friend Nic pointed me in the right direction to these, since she also has these and has recently styled them on her blog!

And finally, this necklace. Two weekends ago I hit up the Renegade Craft Fair (haul coming soon, BTW) and I visited Molly Rose Post‘s booth for a good look at her newest pieces. I fell in love with this onyx necklace because the pendant is timeless. And duh, it’s black so it’s always a winner.

Do you ever anchor your outfits on a certain color? As much as I love black, I have to push myself not to default to it.

Macy’s Holiday Windows Unveiling

Macy's Holiday Windows - 2014

Growing up in the Bay Area, the Macy’s Holiday Windows have always been one of my favorite delights of the season. The only thing better than puppies and kittens are puppies and kittens for a great cause. In case you aren’t familiar with the holiday windows program, every year Macy’s Union Square puts together the most elaborate holiday window displays for adoptable puppies and kittens to romp around in. The windows bring joy to holiday shoppers but also much needed awareness of the San Francisco SPCA and the abundance of adorable animals available for adopting. Over the past nine years, this program has helped over 2,300 animals find homes and raised over $400,000 for the San Francisco SPCA.

Please join me, Q102 radio host Freska, and the one and only Grumpy Cat, this Friday at 5pm for the unveiling of the 28th annual Macy’s Holiday Windows display.
