Print mixing: if you’re too certain about the combination, then you’re not doing it right. I achieve my most creative combos when I leave my comfort zone, and that’s how I pulled this look together. This flowy blouse is one of my latest Forever 21 finds (they’ve been extra awesome lately), and I dug deep into the depths of my closet to uncover one of my favorite pencil skirts. The skirt is actually from my stint in the corporate world, so that’s how you know it’s old. Somehow, someway, the combination of floral, stripes, and houndstooth all work harmoniously here. Feeling very inspired to find some other monochromatic printed or textured garments to anchor other patterned pieces on!
When the holidays roll around, you don’t always have to reach for your lace, sequins, and silk. I love pulling out some of my thicker textured pieces, in unconventional colors and patterns for a refreshing take on the holiday party dress. I scored this wool sleeveless dress about 5 years ago at the Vegas Premium Outlets, and I loved it so much I have it in burgundy as well. C’mon, it even has pockets. I know we all love some plaid, but I especially adore this orange plaid dress because it has a vintage look and feel to it.
