I had breast reduction surgery a little over a year ago and it was the best thing I ever did for my health. Surprisingly one of the most common questions I’ve received, besides how much it cost and what was the recovery like, was actually what I packed in my hospital bag. I see a lot of blog posts and YouTube videos about what to pack in a hospital bag for delivering a baby, but not so much for plastic surgery. My surgery included a one night stay in the hospital, so there were quite a few things I needed to be comfortable. I spent some time in the weeks leading up to the procedure planning what I would pack with me and bring to the hospital.
Pay close attention to the directions from your surgeon and hospital, because there are some non-negotiables they may ask you to bring. I wanted to go over everything I packed in my hospital bag for breast reduction surgery, including the necessities and the nice to haves. There are also some things I forgot that I wish I had.

Don’t bring anything valuable or irreplaceable. Leave your jewelry, sentimental things, and heavy items at home. If you forget basic toiletries like a toothbrush, toothpaste, and so on, your hospital will likely provide that for you. I’m still glad I brought my own, because there was something so comforting about using my favorite products in such a fragile state after surgery.
I suggest packing these items in a small duffel or backpack, but you will not be able to lift these after surgery. Make sure whoever’s picking you up can be in charge of it.
Did any of these item surprise you? Have more questions about the entire breast reduction surgery experience? Let me know in a comment below.
I’m having my surgery on Thursday and have been looking for a list like this, so thank you for sharing.
I am surprised at two things… a jade roller and perfume.
I’m surprised that a hospital would even allow you to have perfume, but then again maybe it is only here where scent free policy is in effect. You did not mention bring your own pillows (staying overnight might want to consider) .
