Oh my stars! We are back with another niche cosplay, just in time for Halloween! This past summer I went to the inaugural Sonic Neon Summit in Reno, NV in a brand new original Bunnie Rabbot cosplay. A character I have never seen another cosplay of, ever!
Bunnie is another criminally underrated character from the Sonic franchise. She was part of the Sonic SatAm cartoon series I was obsessed with as a kid, so I just knew I had to bring her to life. At the convention I got to walk the stage in the cosplay showcase and when my cosplay announced, the crowd went wild. Not for me, because I hadn’t entered the stage yet, but for the love of this character. Bunnie is a half roboticized rabbit, so she has metal legs and a metal arm. Despite these incredible challenges, she’s still has an optimistic and upbeat outlook on life. I think that’s what made her character so relatable and memorable. In the animated series, Bunnie was voiced by the iconic Christine Cavanaugh, the same voice actor who brought so many iconic 90s cartoon characters to life, like Dexter in Dexter’s Laboratory, Chuckie Finster in Rugrats, and many others.
If you’re looking to bring your own version of Bunnie Rabbot to life, here are some of the pieces I used to bring her look together.

Bunnie Rabbot Robot Arm DIY
For Bunnie’s roboticized metal arm, I needed three key pieces: silver gloves, domed shoulder cuff, and forearm cuff.
For the shoulder cuff, I found a hollowed semi circle piece from the floral arranging section of Michaels. As for Bunnie’s forearm cuff, I found a plastic travel drink container at the Dollar Tree. Once I got home, I was able to use a hole saw to punch out a passthrough for my wrist so I could wear the pitcher as a cuff.
The next step was prepping for paint. I sanded down both pieces and sprayed with primer and multiple coats of silver metallic spray paint. I then applied a few layers of foiled glitter paint to give a chunky sparkly reflective finish. The last step of the DIY process was spraying with a clear coat to seal everything in and prevent flaking.
To keep the shoulder cuff in place, I added adhesive velcro strips to the top of my opera glove. It was fine for one day at the convention, but not a long term solution to getting the shoulder to stay in place. Next time I wear this cosplay I want to improve how this functionally works. But I was pretty pleased with my basic robot arm DIY done on a budget.
