As you know I’m always on the go, and sometimes I’m so busy running in-between meetings or events that sitting down for a proper meal can be tough. To add to that, I’m picky and will exclude restaurants despite how conveniently located they might be. So when I learned about the new Wendy’s Core Salads, I went right for Wendy’s Apple Pecan Chicken Salad because of the allure of seriously fresh ingredients. This salad is packed with red & green apples, roasted pecans, cranberries, blue cheese crumbles, and yummy pomegranate dressing. And yes, there was also a side order of Ghost Pepper Fries and a chocolate Frosty involved.
What I didn’t previously know is that Wendy’s salads are not just fresh, they’re freshly made start to finish. Sure, lots of places now offer “fresh” salads, but are they freshly made? The restaurant staff takes the time to freshly chop ingredients every morning, so you know they are never frozen or premade loading off a truck. Additionally, salads topped with chicken are not just topped with any chicken; it’s premium white meat that is grilled upon order. Not sure how they do it? Take the Romaine Lettuce Journey to see how it all comes together.
All in all, I loved my salad! It was missing the crumbled blue cheese as advertised, but I was honestly pleased without it. The salad was light, crisp, and refreshing. About half the dressing packet was sufficient for a full salad size. This salad was a good mixture of greens, proteins, and tart vs. sweet flavors. And the most important part? It was quite filling at 37g of protein!
My boyfriend happens to be a big Wendy’s fan so I’m stoked I finally now have a go-to menu item.
