Between IMATS LA, several blog partnerships and projects, and major action happening at work, January honestly flew right by. Despite being a very busy month, I had plenty of time to experiment with new products so I have a selection of all new favorites that stood out to me. Watch the video below and read some of my additional thoughts on the products below.
Lime Crime Velvetine in ‘Pink Velvet’
Can we just quickly acknowledge how incredible this lippie is? It’s a long wearing matte lip stain that is seriously bulletproof. Pink Velvet is a gorgeous reddish pink that has a cool tone which helps your teeth appear extra white. Packaged like a lip gloss, you apply Velvetines to dry lips and it dries to a matte finish immediately. This is one product that makes me want to wear bold lips more often because it’s super comfortable and lasts through anything. Plus, it’s both cruelty-free and vegan!
NYX HD Photogenic Concealer in ‘Yellow’ & ‘Porcelain’
I learned about this product through Shades of Kassie, who described this wand concealer as a cheaper alternative to MAC’s Pro Longwear Concealer. The results the NYX concealer gives is fairly similar as it doesn’t crease or settle into fine lines like many cheap concealers tend to do. I do see some slight settling around 10+ hours into wear, but it’s not a huge deal and I still consider this product pretty amazing for the price. These are both talc- and paraben-free. And in case you didn’t know, NYX is a cruelty-free brand.
Sonia Kashuk Eye On Neutral Matte Eyeshadow Palette
I waited far too long to get my hands on this palette, because I didn’t think I needed anymore eyeshadow on hand. The truth is, this is an amazing selection of matte eyeshadows that every person could make space for in their collection. There are endlessly versatile lid, blending, and liner colors that can incorporate into any look. Overall, the shade variety and pigmentation is awesome for the price. Depending on your skin tone, you might even be able to set your undereye concealer with some of these matte shades. I’ve never tried it, but I’d imagine it’d work well!
Makeup Geek Eyeshadow in Cupcake & Latte
Embarrassing confession: I bought four MUG eyeshadows at IMATS LA 2013, and I’ve just now barely started using them. Cupcake and Latte are two shades very reminiscent of the soft romantic colors in the Naked 3 palette, which I’ve really been into lately. These matte shadows are highly pigmented and blendable, which are a major win for the price. I keep my MUG shadows in a Z-Palette, and I can’t wait to experiment more with the other colors in my collection.
Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in ‘Jaded’
I was gifted this polish through the #CSMTKO program with Influenster, and I have to say I’m quite impressed with the re-formulation of this drugstore polish line. I rocked this jade green with a rose gold accent nail towards the end of the month, but even into February this manicure has no chips yet. While slightly on the sheer side, three coats gave me a nice application that came out really glossy and smooth.
Trader Joe’s Coconut Body Butter
This is hands-down my favorite new body butter of all time. It has a thick whipped consistency and smells of coconut frosting. Since it’s whipped, it blends and absorbs into your skin faster than The Body Shop body butters. This amazing find is available in-store, but also on Amazon or eBay for a few bucks above retail price if you don’t live near a TJs store.
Proenza Schouler Medium PS1
While not a beauty fave, I have to give a shout out to my favorite new handbag that has never left my side this month. If you follow my blog or Instagram, you’ll have seen a few cameos of this bag so far. To put it lightly… I’m obsessed. This is my dream handbag and I’m so thrilled to finally have it.
What were you loving this month? I’m on the hunt for a new face mask so please leave me your recommendations in a comment.
FTC disclosure: The Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure nail polish was provided for consideration by Influenster. As always, this is my honest opinion.
