The anti-haul is fast-growing phenomenon on social at the moment, and I wanted to chime in on my blog. I’m currently on a makeup no-buy and in the spirit of resisting the urge to shop, I wanted to share a few things I’m not lured into the hype of. These are mostly new products that I’m not necessarily attracted to, despite being from several brands I appreciate and love.
No shade, this is all in good fun! Here are some of the products I definitely will not purchase, even after my no-buy ends.
- Tom Ford The Ultimate Bronzer: I’m sure this is an incredible bronzer, but the $110 price is an absolute joke. I just refuse to spend that much on cosmetics. I’d much rather invest that money in my skin. I love you Tom Ford, but this is cray.
- Kylie Cosmetics The Royal Peach Palette: first, the colors in this palette do not speak to me. Second, after hearing the uproar on social media from customers saying this palette smelling rancid, that’s a definite pass for me.
- MILK MAKEUP Holographic Stick: while this product looks cool and innovative to me, I can’t see myself dragging a stick product across my cheekbones and eye areas daily. The format and medium of this product don’t speak to me and much as the color does. But if I want a crazy iridescent highlight, I’d reach for my Sleek Makeup Solstice palette instead.
- NARS NARSissist Unfiltered Cheek Palette: I use blush so sparingly these days, buying this cheek palette would be a complete waste. NARS was smart to produce this palette in both a warm and cool version to appeal to many different skin tones, though.
- Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Palette: not practical for me, at all. While this product might be perfect for a traveling professional makeup artist, these colors and the packaging don’t realistically work with my lifestyle.
- Bobbi Brown Art Stick Liquid Lip: while the colors in this range look lovely, I can’t get past the applicator tip. It doesn’t look practical to me.
- Natasha Denona 28 Eyeshadow Palette: don’t get me wrong, the texture of these shadows is incredible. However I neither can justify the cost nor get the full use out of one of these mega palettes. I understand the cost per pan is actually quite low, but I have so many more neutral shadows currently in my collection I’d rather stick with.
- Glossier Generation G: I’ve seen a few videos of these lipsticks being applied and they seem way too patchy and sheer for me. For a sheer look, I’d prefer to reach for a tinted lip balm that’s nourishing and won’t cling to dry patches.
The anti-haul idea originated from Kimberly Clark on YouTube, so I’d like to acknowledge and give credit where due. I love the concept and movement towards more conscious consumerism.
What products would be in your anti-haul? I would love to know in a comment below! And definitely let me know if you’d like to see another anti-haul, perhaps on skincare or fashion, in the future.

Most women do not need make up. And in some cases, make up can make them look worse. This is a good trend that should stay for a long time.

Omg… I must have been under a rock for ages because I am just hearing about this anti-haul thing! I think this is such a cool idea! And I’m definitely not on the Kylie bandwagon at all..

I want to try the Milk stick so much, but like you I just can’t stand the way that it’s packaged…I love highlight, but anything that comes in a stick makes me nervous that it could potentially rub my makeup off!
